Nutella & Raspberry Macarons

I made this macarons yesterday, so I am taking a break from updating all my posts to add this one. I tried doing macarons for the first time 2 years ago, and it was a complete catastrophe. I thought I would never even attempt them again, but I think they are so adorable, I allways wished I could make them myself!!

Macarons

I went to france in December and visited Pierre Hermé, Ladurée, and every other Pastry shop I could, so since then it has become almost an obsesion to figure out how to make the perfect macaron that grows, has feet, is moist, colorful, fluffy and adorable.

So here are some pictures, as well as the finished recipe:

Paper Flowers

My sister came home from France a while after I came home from Germany, and she had spent a lot longer without seeing everyone, so I decided to make a HUGE welcome home party for her. I invited family and friends over, and made a dessert table, decorations, and cute little gift bags. I saw a tutorial on how to make Paper flowers on Jessica’s Blog How about Orange, and tried them out. I made a tutorial myself, but I made it in spanish, so I am adding the english names for everything underneath. They look really gorgeous, you can make them in any color to decorate anything you want, and they are actually a lot of fun to make =)

These are the materials you will need to make them:

Disney Princess Birthday party

I was hired to make a Birthday Party for a 3 year old girl who wants to be a princess when she grows up and is in love with all of the Disney Princesses. I made a Cupcake Tower with Black Forest cupcakes, decorated with Disney Princesses Cupcake Toppers I made myself. The party was entertained by a Snow White, (who took pictures with the children, which were added to their gift baskets), and her helper (together they made a marionette show for the kids).

The wheather was awful, it rained the entire afternoon, so we were forced to move everything from the park to the room where the parents were chatting. I was worried that the kids would find it boring, but they were so happy! Running around and laughing! Their faces were painted, and they each got one of those large balloons that are turned into flowers, dogs, swords, etc.

Mini-Muffin Christmas Tree

If you are asking yourself why on earth is she making a post on christmas trees in the middle of summer? well, I am updating all the info, blog posts, pictures, etc. I have made since starting Salva un Unicornio to this new blog, since I had problems with my last adress, which was on blogspot, and I discovered wordpress, which I find a million times better!!! So you will find in the next couple of weeks (I hope), tons of pages with dessert, party, wedding and card ideas!

Mini-Muffin Christmas Tree

I have seen some amazing Christmas trees made from cupcakes, muffins, macarons, cookies, brownies, anything you can think of!! So I tried my luck with a Mini-Muffin Christmas Tree which I sold on Christmas, and I found that it wasn’t as easy to do as I thought at first. It actually took me a couple of attempts before I got it right, but I found out, if I want to sell it I must make some sort of package for it, so I created a base, which you can see on cardboard, which doesn’t allow the tree to move, and I wrapped the whole tree with transparent paper and a bow.

I thought I should also add some of the Pastry Christmas Trees that I have seen as inspiration, so that you have more ideas if you are trying to make one of your own.

A Macaron Tower can be easily converted to a Christmas Tree, if you make the macarons green and red, or green with red fillings. Here is a beautiful Macaron Tower by Little Miss Macaron to inspire you!

A Croquembouche is a tower of Cream Puffs, covered with caramel. It is usually made for Weddings, but here’s one from Grace Kitchen Adventures, who turned it into a Christmas themed tree.

I have seen other Pastry Crhistmas Trees that are small, personilized desserts, like this Christmas Tree Brownie Bites made by Erica, from Erica’s Sweet Tooth. You’ll never guess what’s underneath! She shows how to make them step by step on her blog.

I think that’s all, but if you find any amazing Pastry Christmas Trees, or have made one of your own, send me the pictures and I would love to add them to this post!

Wedding Invitations

I love making wedding invitations – the entire process of making them. From meeting the bride and helping her chose from hundreds of papers, colors, shapes and fonts. Getting the guest list and waiting around for them to be printed, making sure they are unique and every card is perfect… watching the reactions on people’s faces and knowing no one in their right minds would ever throw away this invitation.

So after the crhistmas card mania of the last few months I thought it would be nice to look back on wedding invites, just so that I can forget about the red and green ribbons (I dont want to see a christmas card ever again).  Here are some of the designs I have done before and a couple I just put together and thought worked really well.
